Your Boudoir Playlist: How to Create the Sexy Soundtrack for Your Session

Sexy Soundtrack Boudoir Photographer

Here’s how to get yourself in the mood to strike a pose with the right music.

There is no denying it: music makes just about everything better! For boudoir clients, music helps them to loosen up, move their bodies, and have more fun. Some photographers have their own boudoir playlists, and I do too. But I like to invite my clients to create their own playlist a few days before their session. Because the boudoir experience doesn’t just begin and end with the session, doing some rituals or practices prior to the big day gets you ready to walk in feeling yourself a lot more than you would otherwise.

Here are some tips for making the perfect playlist for your boudoir photo session:

1. Think about what vibe you’re going for. How do you want to feel during your time in front of the camera? Dangerously sexy? Fierce and feminist? Dark and mysterious? Cute and playful? Write down a few words that describe what you’re hoping to capture, and then think of songs that match that vibe. Consider what makes you feel free and comfortable, and go with that!

2. Make your playlist about 2 hours long. Your hair and makeup will take about an hour, and your time in front of the camera will be approximately 45 minutes. Creating a 2 hour-long playlist will keep the music flowing from the time you sit in the makeup chair to the time your last photo is taken.

3. Send the playlist to the photographer before your session. This can be so helpful for photographers! We take a lot of time to get a vision of what you want your session to look and feel like… and music is a language that makes a lot of us able to quickly understand exactly what you want to see in your final photos.

4. Save your playlist and listen to it after your session when you need an extra confidence boost. Do you ever hear a song and a happy memory pops into your head from a time in the past when you were listening to it? You can do this with your boudoir playlist, too, and re-connect with the sense of empowerment, safety and self-love that you had during your boudoir session!
